More tea vicar?

Well it seems like lady vicars is the order of this month. During a trip to the Lake District recently, in between hill walking and pints in the pub, my companion and I spotted yet another lady vicar in the street! She was happily walking up the road away from the football memorabilia centre and towards a pub.

Now, it's not my place to speculate. But... her direction of travel suggests only one thing to us here at wespotnuns; she was a football-loving, pint swilling member of the Church of England!

Yes, that's right. I'm fairly certain she'd popped into the memorabilia centre to check out some old pictures of Peter Beardsley and maybe pick up one of Glenn Hoddle's signed shirts. Afterwards - delighted with her new treasure - she popped to the pub for a pint of Rusty Ferret and a good old chinwag with the regulars about Cappello's World Cup team options.

Probably.

Vicar drinking tea in cafe shocker

Another day another excellent sighting - and yet again no camera on hand!

In the interests of health and fitness I took a walk this lunchtime 'around the block'. Well, it's just nice to get away from the desk for half an hour and drink in the sunshine while trying to avoid schoolies flirting on the pavements with each other isn't it.

The walk was just a short wander from the office, a mere stone's throw from my workplace. I was admiring the blossom and the fairly fancy vehicles on the street. When - to my surprise and delight - I spotted a vicar!

I was sending a text message at the time. And then I suddenly found myself abjectly staring into the cafe window at a lady vicar (I know, who knew they were so common!) sipping a cup of tea and staring... well right back at me actually.

Needless to say i swiftly moved on. After all, the very purpose of wespotnuns is to spot these clergy people going about their everyday business - not to disturb them!

What a lovely way to spend a lunchtime.

P.s. I also saw a man with literally no neck today. Not a clergy member, granted, but his face was definitely connected to his body with nothing in between. How bizarre.

A Monday with no spots

What is the world coming to? It's the day after lots of clergy-members have gone about their week's business. I expected to see them washing their cars, looking for whisks in a supermarket or maybe buying some cleanser from Boots. Sadly my hopes were scuppered.

Look alive and look around nun spotters i hope you spotted someone today.

A good day in the nun-spotting camp

Well what a day today was. Sadly since the first post there haven't been any significant sightings - what a shame.

HOWEVER - today, Sunday 16 May, was a good day for a nun spot.

I was dining out with a loved one in a local wetherspoons (scampi and chips) and soaking up the hangover with a pint of Pepsi when lo and behold...

A female vicar, at the bar, wearing civvies and a dog collar and carrying a hot beverage.

What a visual treat! Sadly I was not quick enough off the mark (and was focusing quite heavily on the scampi) and didn't get to snap a picture. Next time though readers, I will be sure to try and get an image for you - we all need proof after all.

The first post

Hello fellow nun spotters.

Welcome to my new blog. I have spent many years looking out for nuns going about their everyday business and thought it was about time to share it with the world. Hopefully you'll think that too.

Yes, we all know nuns are real people too. Normally they live in convents and lovely nunneries (?). But what a treat when they're spotted out and about!

On bikes, in cars, walking a dog, buying doritos, eating a hot dog. Every sighting is a nun-spotter's visual delight!

I know, the spots can be few and far between. And I really don't think that spotting them outside of convents counts.

I have extended my search for religious people in every day life to any and all religions. Priests, nuns, rabbis, Granthi, Buddhist senseis.. all are welcome here.

Keep those eyes peeled and cameras ready.
